FAMILY : Vigil to Protest Adoption Laws
A Place For Us, an interracial organization based in Los Angeles, will sponsor a national candlelight vigil on Dec. 20 in support of couples who cannot adopt minority children because of race-matching laws.
The dawn vigil will take place in front of social service agencies in Northern and Southern California, Texas, Pennsylvania and New York, said Ruth White, the group’s co-founder.
Laws banning trans-racial adoption are “perpetuating separatism and polarization and doing real damage to the minds of young people,” White said.
For more information on the vigil, call (800) 496-0600.
