Wet Seal Inc.: The Irvine women’s apparel retailer posted a loss of $471,000, or 4 cents a share, for its latest quarter. That contrasted with a profit of $1.7 million, or 14 cents a share, for the same period a year earlier. Sales for the company’s third fiscal quarter, which ended Oct. 30, were down 11% to $36.9 million from $41.6 million. For its fiscal year to date, the company reported a loss of $772,000, or 6 cents a share, contrasted with a profit of $4 million, or 33 cents a share, for the same period a year earlier. Nine-month sales were $105.6 million, down from $114.3 million. The company said it has opened 10 stores and closed four this year.
