Unemployment Rate Climbs: The October figure rose to a seasonally adjusted 11.2% from 10.9% in September, but employment growth was strong, the government reported. It was the highest unemployment rate since December. The jobless result was on the high end of expectations, but employment figures were much larger than expected. The number of people employed in October rose 32,200, after rising 45,100 in September, the Bureau of Statistics said.
