Late Touchdown Lifts Rancho Santiago
SANTA ANA — Kwabene Idelette caught a 16-yard touchdown pass from Gabe Garcia late in the fourth quarter to lift Rancho Santiago to a 41-35 victory over Fullerton in a Mission Conference Central Division game Saturday at Santa Ana Stadium.
The play completed an afternoon of rallies for the Dons (3-5-1, 1-3 in the division). Fullerton (3-6, 0-4) held leads of 14-0, 21-7, 28-24 and 35-31 before finally falling.
The winning score came with 1 minute 21 seconds left. Fullerton reached the Rancho Santiago 24 with 16 seconds left, but quarterback Josh Nelson, pressured by a strong rush, threw consecutive passes that were incomplete, and the Hornets turned the ball over on downs with four seconds to play.
