COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Irvine Valley Beats OCC to Clinch Men’s Soccer Title

Irvine Valley clinched the Orange Empire Conference men’s soccer championship with a 2-0 victory over Orange Coast Thursday at Irvine.
Jeff Rynders scored the first goal off an assist from Frank Pace. Luis Ramos scored on a penalty kick 20 minutes into the second half also for Irvine Valley (15-2-3, 8-1-1 in conference). Orange Coast is 9-3-6, 4-3-3.
In another Orange Empire Conference men’s soccer game:
Fullerton 4, Golden West 1--Alex Perez scored two of his three goals in the second half and Neil Schuster had eight saves for Fullerton (8-6-5, 6-4-1), which moved into second place, two points ahead of Orange Coast.
In Orange Empire Conference women’s soccer:
Golden West 2, Irvine Valley 0--Stacy Engelhard scored twice in the second half and Maurine Bosman had nine saves for Golden West (6-6-3, 5-4-1).
In the Barstow men’s basketball tournament:
Cypress 87, Twentynine Palms Marines 61--Matt Kenney made five of six three-point attempts and finished with 16 points for Cypress in its opening game. Alex Tolentino and Dan Watson came off the bench to score 10 points each for Cypress.
