Nation IN BRIEF : VIRGINIA : Man Cut by Wife Denies Forcing Sex

John Wayne Bobbitt, in the second day of his trial for marital sexual assault, denied that he had raped his wife shortly before she severed his penis. He said he remembered initiating sex with his 24-year-old wife, Lorena, in the early morning of June 23 but the she had been receptive. He said he later felt a “tug” but didn’t initially realize what had happened. The 26-year-old ex-Marine testified before a hushed Prince William Circuit Court about the incident in their Manassas, Va., apartment. The penis was later reattached.
