VOLLEYBALL ROUNDUP : CSUN Takes 5 to Defeat USF
Missy Clements had 14 kills to lead the Cal State Northridge women’s volleyball team to a 16-14, 7-15, 15-6, 8-15, 15-6 victory against the University of San Francisco in the consolation match of the Days Inn Classic on Saturday in Berkeley.
Gretchen Gulbranson had 26 assists and Erin Balderaman had 14 assists for the Matadors (10-14), who had a .417 hitting percentage in the decisive fifth game. Northridge’s Aimee Stone and Ana Kristich each had 11 kills.
The Matadors had 20 blocks.
Jodi Princeton led the Dons with 15 kills. Stacy Larson had 44 assists for San Francisco.
GIRLS
Harvard-Westlake d. Brentwood, 7-15, 15-6, 15-3, 15-3--The host Wolverines, 16-0 and ranked first in the Southern Section’s Division II, got a scare in the opening game, but regrouped to take the final three of their nonleague match against the Eagles (13-1), ranked first in Division V.
