VAN NUYS : Nightclubs Staging Fire Relief Events
A Van Nuys nightclub will hold a fund-raiser Monday night for fire victims.
Bar and door receipts after 6 p.m. from the Odd Ball Cabaret, 8532 Sepulveda Blvd., and two other Southland nightclubs that feature exotic dancing will be donated to the Salvation Army Disaster Relief Fund.
Money from the fund-raiser will go toward down payments on mobile homes for people who lost their homes in the fires, rent toward new apartments, groceries and other supplies, Wike said.
Bruce Pond, general manager of the Odd Ball Cabaret, said he wanted to do something for fire victims when he heard of their plight.
“It occurred to me at the time that there was something we could do as an organization to help them,” Pond said. “If you are going to go somewhere like our nightclub anyway, why not go out and do some good?”
The two other clubs holding fund-raisers are the Jet Strip in Los Angeles and the Fun House in Stanton. Only adults 18 and over are admitted to the clubs, which do not serve alcohol.
