GARDEN GROVE : Parking Lot Opens at Sports Complex
A 25-space parking lot has been opened at Chapman Sports Complex, one of the city’s most popular athletic facilities.
The city has developed the complex, at the Chapman-Hettinga Education Center at Knott Street and Chapman Avenue, under an agreement with the Garden Grove Unified School District.
Two hockey rinks will also be lighted for night usage, said Deborah Schock, a community services supervisor for the city.
Schock said the school district has approved the lighting, even though it is expected to attract more vehicles.
In addition to the hockey rinks, the complex includes six soccer fields, six lighted tennis courts, a lighted baseball field, two basketball courts and six handball courts.
A state grant paid the costs of the parking lot and the California Street Hockey Assn. will pay for the new lighting, Schock said.
