HOW DARK AND STORMY WAS IT? : âLook Out or Elseâ
Hi. My name is Krissy. Iâm 11 and in fifth grade. I have really pretty reddish hair that I keep in a bun on top of my head. I have beautiful green-blue eyes, and I have freckles. Iâm so-so in math and I am pretty good in spelling.
I love to read books, especially mysteries. I like to solve the mysteries before people do. I want to be a detective when I grow up. I already have a dog to sniff things out, a magnifying glass, a long coat and a hat.
One stormy night, I was home alone. I was reading a mystery book called, âLook Out or Else.â My parents went out to dinner and then were going to visit a friend of theirs.
I was getting tired. I was so tired that I just fell asleep in the chair. My book fell out of my hand and hit the floor.
âAhhhh!â screamed the book. I awoke fast. I almost screamed myself, but I didnât. I was so scared I did a dumb thing. I leaned over and picked up the book.
âWho are you and what are you doing in a book?â I yelled at the book.
âIâm, uh, trapped in this book and you have to, uh, get me out,â a creepy voice said.
âHow did you get in?â I asked.
âNever mind that, uh, just lean into the book and. . . .â
âAhhhh!â I screamed as a hand grabbed me by the collar and pulled me into the book.
âLOOK OUT OR ELSE!â screamed the creepy voice.
I finally hit the ground. I hurt. When I came to my senses, I looked around and found myself in a graveyard.
âWhere am I?â I yelled.
âYouâre in a graveyard, dummy,â a vampire said. The weird thing was that the voice was the same one I heard when the hand grabbed me.
âWell, duh?â I said.
âWell, it doesnât matter now because youâre about to die. By the way, my nameâs Vincent.â
âWait a minute. This is just a book. Iâm dreaming right?â I asked.
âSorry,â Vincent said.
âWait! I know how to solve mysteries before the people in the book do. So can I solve this mystery?â I asked.
âHa, ha, ha. It was so funny I forgot to laugh,â Vincent said sarcastically.
âWait!â I know how to solve this mystery. Itâs easy,â I said.
âYeah, right,â said Vincent.
I picked up a piece of wood and hid it behind my back.
âHey, Vincent,â I said in a sing-song voice.
âWhat now?â Vincent asked.
âHey, yeah,â I yelled as I stabbed him in the heart. âOh, yuk,â I said as I watched him fall.
âWhatâs happening?â I asked as the ground started shaking. I asked no one in particular.
I turned around and I suddenly found myself sitting in the chair again. The book was in my hands when it was supposed to be on the floor.
I screamed suddenly, but I didnât know why I screamed. It just happened.
