Clippers Fall to Spurs, 100-97
SAN ANTONIO — David Robinson scored 26 points and made two free throws with 10 seconds to play to lead the San Antonio Spurs to a 100-97 exhibition victory over the Clippers on Saturday.
The Spurs, who led by as many as 20 points in the third quarter, withstood 31-11 run that tied the score at 93-93 on a jumper by Mark Jackson with 2:56 to play.
With the score tied, 95-95, San Antonio’s Lloyd Daniels made his third three-point shot of the half. Loy Vaught then rebounded Danny Manning’s missed reverse layup and scored to make it 98-97 with 1:10 remaining. After Robinson’s late free throws, Ron Harper missed a last-second three-pointer for the Clippers.
Harper led the Clippers, who ended the exhibition season at 5-3, with 27 points. Manning had 21. Dennis Rodman had 20 rebounds.
San Antonio is also 5-3.
