DOWNTOWN : Personal-Motivation Tips Offered by Trio
Three motivational speakers will help local residents set and pursue personal, professional and community goals at a workshop from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
Those who attend “Choices, Responsibility, Action: Moving Your Vision From Dreams to Reality,†will also be offered free follow-up training in one month.
The featured speakers will be Dennis P. Kimbro, Patricia Russell-McCloud and Eugene (Mercury) Morris. Kimbro, an author and director of the Center for Entrepreneurship at Clark Atlanta University, will speak on taking responsibility for personal development and community service.
Russell-McCloud, president of her own motivational speaking and training company in Atlanta, will provide advice on taking action.
Morris, a former running back for the Miami Dolphins, will speak on making the right choices. Morris draws not only on his professional football experience but also his 1982 conviction on conspiracy and cocaine-trafficking charges. Although his conviction was later overturned, he spent 3 1/2 years in prison.
The hosts of the program are the National Urban Network and the Coalition of Mental Health Professionals. Tickets are $25 and may be purchased at Ticketmaster or by calling the National Urban Network at (310) 821-6910.
