Running back Albert Smith rushed for 168 yards and two touchdowns in 17 carries to lead host La Mirada over La Habra, 30-7, in a nonleague game Friday.

La Mirada’s Jerry Lemon picked up La Habra quarterback Will McIntosh’s fumble on the Highlanders’ seventh play of their first possession. Nine plays later, including six rushes by Smith, Brett Darnell kicked a 22-yard field goal.

Lemon proved instrumental again on the first play of the fourth quarter, picking up Mcintosh’s third fumble and rambling in for a 13-yard touchdown.

Besides his three fumbles, McIntosh completed only one of 11 passes for nine yards. But he rushed for 109 yards--more than three times the total of the rest of his team--and scored on a 59-yard keeper, then kicked the point after.

Smith scored at the start of the second quarter on a 59-yard run and again in the third on a 41-yard run.

Matador quarterback Mike Palumbo hit Jeff Hallock with a five-yard scoring pass with 2:49 left in the half. Palumbo was 10 for 19 for 95 yards.
