Van Halen Made Sense

Regarding Jim Washburn’s review of the Van Halen concert at the Pacific Amphitheatre (“Musically Adept Van Halen Parties On,” Aug. 30): I take exception to his comment regarding Eddie Van Halen’s guitar solo: “There wasn’t much to the solo that one could call coherent.” Actually, if Mr. Washburn were well-versed in the works of Van Halen, he would know that the guitar solo that night was an extremely coherent compilation of seven Van Halen songs:
1) “Little Guitars,” Part 1
2) “316”
3) “Mean Street” intro
4) “Judgement Day” solo
5) “Spanish Fly”
6) “Cathedral”
7) “Eruption”
Just to set the record straight. . . .
