Bakersfield 47, Ventura 0--Robert Gambala rushed for 43 yards in eight carries for Ventura, which was routed in a Western State Conference opener at Bakersfield before a crowd of 6,972.
Ventura quarterback David Andrade, a sophomore from Hueneme High, completed five of 18 passes for 46 yards and had one interception.
Ventura (0-2) was held to 145 yards in total offense, rushing for 99 yards and passing for 46.
Bakersfield (2-0) rushed for 308 yards and passed for 72 yards.
San Bernardino 24, Antelope Valley 21--Adrian Ervin and Carzell Jordan of San Bernardino combined for 279 yards in a nonconference game to help end Antelope Valley’s six-game winning streak at home.
San Bernardino racked up 478 yards total offoense, which more than doubled Antelope Valley’s 238 yards. Ervin finished with 146 yards and Jordan finished with 133.
