WHITTIER — La Habra’s Donny Cisneros rushed for 150 yards in 22 carries and scored twice to lead the Highlanders to a 17-14 victory at Whittier California Thursday night.
After taking a 3-0 lead on Will McIntosh’s 41-yard field goal on the game’s opening drive, Cisneros broke loose on a 46-yard run midway through the first half and La Habra led, 10-0.
California came back late in the second quarter when quarterback David Baruch raced around the right end for a two-yard touchdown that cut the Highlander’s lead to three.
Shortly before halftime, Cisneros once again found a hole in the Condor defense and raced 40 yards to set up his second touchdown of the game that increased the lead to 17-7.
The Condors (0-3) put together a nine-play, 63-yard drive in the third quarter that culminated with Baruch’s one-yard sneak.
The Highlanders were able to pin California in its own territory for much of the remainder of the game, thanks to Juan Garcia’s punting.
