Microsoft Will Cooperate with Justice Dept. Probe: “We intend to cooperate fully,” Vice President Bill Neukom said. The Justice Dept. announced it would continue to investigate after the Federal Trade Commission voted 4-0 Friday to drop an investigation that began in 1990 after competitors complained that Microsoft unfairly gave steep discounts to manufacturers to load its software into their computers before they were sold, as well as allegations that the firm created hidden codes in its software that also hurt competitors.
