Robert Beechner; Decorated Vet, 63, Lido Isle Resident
NEWPORT BEACH — Memorial services for Robert L. Beechner, a decorated Korean War veteran and a retired health care industry executive, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Pacific View Memorial Park.
Beechner, an 18-year resident of Lido Isle, died Sunday at Hoag Hospital. He was 63.
A native of Kansas City, Mo., Beechner was a graduate of Northwestern University. During the Korean War he served as a Marine second lieutenant. He was awarded the Silver Star for valor in combat and the Purple Heart for wounds he suffered during the war.
Beechner’s business career included various executive positions in American Hospital Supply and Dart Industries. He retired in 1985.
He was a director of the Health Industry Manufacturers Assn. and was on the Medical Advisory Board of Health Examinetics.
He is survived by his wife, Susan, and his daughter, Melissa Mahoney.
