Up on Stage They’re Just 2 Wild and Crazy Los Guys
Imagine that Jimi Hendrix meets John Prine at Jerry Garcia’s house. That’s Los Guys. These Dos Guys are screamingly funny. And they’ll be performing at Midnight Hour in Ventura this Saturday night.
There’s the song about the girlfriend who inflates tires . . . oops, can’t talk about that one. There’s the college goof-off song about a UC Santa Barbara student majoring in Beer 101. Then there’s a song about George Bush, with a chorus that even a Democrat couldn’t repeat in a family newspaper.
Jeremy Donaldson, who has a degree from UCSB in mechanical engineering, writes the funny songs--typical hippie folk songs with an out-of-left-field but on-target, wise-guy attitude. Harold Lee, who usually wears a pair of shorts, combat boots and a smile, performs all of his guitar pyrotechnics with an acoustic guitar and a pedal. Simply put: If you never see another show this year, this is the one.
Headlining is a cool bar band, the Convertibles. The show starts about 9-ish. The Midnight Hour is at 281 W. Main St., Ventura. Call 641-2112.
