Car Thief Escapes From Minimum-Security Jail
CASTAIC — A convicted car thief escaped Wednesday from a minimum-security facility at Peter J. Pitchess Honor Rancho, authorities said.
Santiago Myia, 25, walked out of the facility between inmate counts at 3 and 7 a.m., Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Sgt. Cliff Lewis said.
Myia, a Santa Monica resident, had been arrested in Los Angeles in June and was serving a one-year term for grand theft auto. When caught, he could be sentenced for up to another year in jail.
