Montrose : Joint Anniversary Gala
The Montrose-Verdugo City Chamber of Commerce will celebrate the organization’s 70th anniversary and the community of Montrose’s 80th birthday on Saturday.
The gala is scheduled from noon to 8 p.m. at the Indian Springs Shopping Center in the 2000 block of Verdugo Boulevard, site of the area’s first land sale on Feb. 22, 1913. Entertainment will include singing, dancing, karate demonstrations, and, in the evening, the big band sounds of Val Grayson and his orchestra. Arts and crafts, an antique auto show, games and a barbecue also are planned.
Stores along Honolulu Avenue will display antiques and clothing of the 1920s to 1940s through the courtesy of the Glendale Historical Society. A pictorial book by the chamber and other memorabilia will be available.
A Bee-Line Shuttle will route visitors along Honolulu Avenue, from Phil’s Market, through the Montrose Shopping Park, to the gala from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. After that, a 1915 rubber-tired trolley will continue the shuttle until 8:30 p.m. Both shuttles are free.
