Freeway Crash Kills Cyclist, 24
ANAHEIM — A motorcycle rider died Thursday after she lost control of the cycle and was hit by a van on the Riverside Freeway, highway police said.
Catherine Anne Bartz-Todd, 24, of Irvine was westbound on the freeway about 2 a.m. when her motorcycle skidded near the Costa Mesa Freeway transition, said Sheryl Hansen, a communications supervisor with the California Highway Patrol.
She was thrown from the bike and struck by a van.
Bartz-Todd, listed in the voter registration file as a sales consultant, was wearing a helmet.
The van driver was not injured, Hansen said.
