World IN BRIEF : NORTH KOREA : U.S. Official Assails Missile Development

A senior U.S. official condemned North Korea’s missile development, calling it a matter of grave concern to the United States and Japan. In Japan for talks on bilateral and regional security, Frank Wisner, undersecretary of defense for policy, said the development is “uncalled for and destabilizing” at a time when the former Soviet Union is dismantling its nuclear weapons. The CIA said last week that North Korea has tested a missile with a range of 620 miles.
