SAN FERNANDO VALLEY : Graffiti Tagger Sentenced to 3 Years in Work Camp
A 16-year-old graffiti tagger was ordered held for a maximum of three years in a juvenile work camp after admitting he spray-painted his name on dozens of San Fernando Valley locations, authorities said.
The Reseda boy, who used the tag name “Den,†admitted in Sylmar Juvenile Court to a petition charging him with felony vandalism. His admission was equivalent to a guilty plea in an adult court.
Juvenile Court Judge Morton Rochman ordered the youth to be held at a work camp, and said he must make restitution for 31 acts of vandalism and perform 200 hours of community service by painting over graffiti when he is released. Authorities said a task force identified “Den†after photographing him in 31 acts of vandalism.
