A 30-year-old Huntington Beach man was shot and wounded by an unknown attacker as he drove on McFadden Avenue Sunday night, police said.
Ronnie Gene Walker told police he was driving east, near Golden West Street, about 10:30 p.m. when a bullet hit him in the left shoulder, said Sgt. Steve Johnson of the Huntington Beach Police Department. He drove to a nearby Del Taco restaurant for help.
Walker was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange. A hospital spokeswoman said Walker was in fair condition with a bullet lodged in his right shoulder.
The bullet entered his left shoulder and traveled through his upper body, said hospital spokeswoman Fran Tardiff.
“He’s very, very lucky because the bullet did not do any major damage,” Tardiff said.
Johnson said police are treating the incident as an attempted murder. No weapon was seen or recovered.
“He had no suspect information . . . because he didn’t see anybody next to him,” Johnson said.
