FOUNTAIN VALLEY — Hyundai Motor America has laid off 30 employees at its headquarters here, a spokeswoman said Monday.
“It was a restructuring to make us more efficient, more responsive, so we can better service our dealers and customers,” spokeswoman Dotty Diemer said.
Of the company’s 502 employees in the United States, she said, 32 were laid off nationwide, and 18 vacant positions, most of them in middle management, were eliminated as of July 9.
Diemer said the remaining 470 employees’ jobs are fairly secure for now. “This is the only round of layoffs we foresee,” she said. “This is not Round 1 of anything.”
Hyundai Motor America is the U.S. import and distribution arm of Hyundai Motor Corp. of South Korea.
