Baxter Layoffs Announced: A division of Baxter Healthcare Corp. is laying off 25 employees as part of a restructuring plan, officials said.
The workers, about 1% of the Baxter’s 2,000-member work force in Irvine, received two months’ advance warning in notices delivered Wednesday and will be provided with company-paid employment services, said Michael Mussallem, president of the Edwards Critical Care division of Baxter.
Mussallem said the company is cutting its payroll to remain competitive in the marketplace. The cuts affected the company’s critical care monitoring and angioplasty devices units. Angioplasty devices are used to clear blocked arteries.
