Looking for a family oriented weekend with a decidedly Latin beat? Then try the Wilmington Fiesta, set for this weekend at Banning Park.
There will be two days of family entertainment, with concerts, games and food and drink reflecting the diversity of the “Heart of the Harbor†community.
Children’s carnival rides, arts and crafts, face painting and balloons, and entertainment by clowns are included in the admission.
Among the featured entertainers will be La Banda de Zacatecas, The Pastellas, El Mariachi Los Camperos, Mariachi Sol de Mexico, Cha-Chazz, The Latin Breeze and the San Pedro Classics.
The 12th annual fiesta runs from 11:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the park, 400 E. Pacific Coast Highway.
“Families and family fun are the emphasis for the 12th annual Wilmington Fiesta,†said John Mendez, fiesta co-chairman. “We will have top quality entertainment, including mariachi bands which recently played to a full house at the Hollywood Bowl.â€
The fiesta benefits the Wilmington Teen Center and many other community organizations.

Where: Banning Park, 400 E. Pacific Coast Highway.
Background: This is the 12th annual Wilmington Fiesta. This year it features two of the top mariachi bands in the world--El Mariachi Los Camperos and Mariachi Sol de Mexico. On Saturday, menudo cooks will vie for top honors and cash during a Menudo Cook-Off.
Cost: Admission is $5 for adults and children; $3 before 2 p.m.
