TUSTIN : Trustee Honored for Work in Schools
Gloria Matta Tuchman, a trustee in the Tustin Unified School District, was recently named 1993 Woman of Distinction by Soroptomist International of Santa Ana/Tustin.
Tuchman, who is also a first-grade teacher at Taft Elementary School in Santa Ana, was honored for her work on bilingual education reform. She heads Campaign for California Kids, which seeks to get children with limited-English proficiency into mainstream classes as rapidly as possible.
Tuchman has served on three national educational boards, including the Fund for the Improvement and Reform of Schools and Teaching, of which she is still a member.
Soroptomist International of Santa Ana/Tustin honored Tuchman in June at the Radisson Plaza Hotel in Irvine during the club’s induction of officers.
