Birmingham Hosts All-Comers Meet
Birmingham High will host a series of all-comers meets starting at 6 p.m. tonight.
The meets, which are sponsored by the Southern California Assn. of USA Track & Field and the Birmingham High Dad’s Club, are also scheduled for July 7, 14 and 21, and could go beyond that if there is enough interest.
The meet will begin at 6 o’clock with events for youth division (junior high and younger) competitors, followed by the novice (high school) and open (collegiate and older) events at 7 p.m.

Tennis
Krissy Hamilton-Heinberg, 13, from Agoura Hills, won the singles title Monday in the 18-and-under division of the Southern California Tennis Assn.’s regional tournament at Fountain Valley.
Cycling
Shawn Cronkhite of Chatsworth placed first overall in the Carlsbad Stage Race, a three-day event that concluded Sunday.
Teammate Thurlow Rogers of Van Nuys placed 14th overall.
The pair, plus team member John Wordin of West Hills, will compete this weekend in the Ottawa Fireball Criterium in Ottawa, Ill.
Bowling
Buoyed by a 300 game Tuesday, Ron Winger of Tarzana is in second place after four rounds of the $75,000 Wyoming Valley PBA Senior tournament in Wilkes-Barre, Pa.
Winger has knocked down 1,752 pins, one behind John Handegard.
