Dashing Speculation, Britain’s Prince Andrew and Wife Formally Separate
LONDON — Bringing an end to speculation they would reconcile, Prince Andrew and his wife, Sarah, on Monday said they have reached a formal separation agreement.
The two have lived apart since March, 1992, without being legally separated. The announcement increased the likelihood that Andrew, second son of Queen Elizabeth II, and Sarah, better known as “Fergie,†will divorce after the required two-year waiting period.
Buckingham Palace refused to release details of the separation agreement, beyond saying the couple’s two daughters will continue to live with their mother.
The couple remain “the closest of friends,†a spokesman said.
