COSTA MESA : Trash Haulers Will Take That Big Junk
The Costa Mesa Sanitary District will hold its annual large-item pickup beginning today and continuing until Sept. 6 in various neighborhoods.
Costa Mesa Disposal, the city’s trash hauler, will be using a separate truck and crew to collect bulky items such as mattresses, refrigerators, washers, dryers, water heaters and sofas. Large items should be placed at the curb but not with the regular trash.
Items that will not be collected include tires, tree trunks, lumber over four feet, asphalt, concrete, dirt, vehicle bodies, chemicals or toxic waste of any kind, including motor oil and paint.
The program is being sponsored by the district as part of its Integrated Solid Waste Management Program. The district took over funding last year after the city eliminated the program because of budget problems.
Residents whose neighborhoods will be visited for large-item removal will receive notices one week before their scheduled pickup. The program is limited to residents served by the Costa Mesa Sanitary District.
Residents using bin service are asked to make special arrangements with their contracted trash hauler. For more information, call (714) 754-5307.
