Mourning the Loss of Iris Swanson

* When I was a candidate for the 73rd Assembly District, I was privileged to meet Iris Swanson. Even though we were opponents running in the same race, she immediately impressed me. Few people that I know have more integrity, more drive and more distinction than Iris. Unfortunately last week, Iris Swanson passed away, and she will be missed by many.

Iris Swanson’s passing is not only a tremendous loss for her family and friends, but also for all of the cities and communities of south Orange County. Iris had devoted her life to improving our community. Her contributions to the Saddleback Community College District will never be forgotten.

During the race for the 73rd Assembly District, I spoke with Iris on many occasions about many topics, but I will never forget how Iris continually focused and refocused that campaign on the issue she had strived her whole life to improve-- education.

Iris Swanson was a sincere, genuine person, who was dedicated to her family, church, community and principles.

Although Iris will be tremendously missed by all of us, she will never be forgotten.
