Basics Should Be Funded First
* Our county supervisors have some tough decisions ahead of them. While on the surface it sounds great to say all departments will cut 10%, that is not really the answer. It would reward the poorly managed departments and paralyze the areas that have been well run.
What our supervisors need to do is to first provide the basic programs for which we originally founded governments. After the mandatory services are funded, then other programs can be analyzed for need and be funded with the remaining money.
It is our basic desire to be safe in our homes and walking on our streets. We need to fully fund the Sheriff’s Department and even more, if necessary, to provide our desired safety.
