Glendale Man Is Held in Slaying After Argument
A Glendale man has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a man he argued with in a Burbank alley, Burbank police said Friday.
An argument between two men in an alley in the 300 block of East Santa Anita Avenue turned deadly about 9:30 p.m. Thursday when one of the men pulled a handgun and shot the other several times in the upper torso, Lt. Larry Koch said.
The 50-year-old victim, whose name was withheld until relatives could be notified, was taken to Thompson Memorial Medical Center, where he died about an hour later.
Evidence seized at the shooting scene and witness statements led police to serve a search warrant at a house in the 100 block of West Windsor Road in Glendale, where Salvador Gomez, 40, was arrested on suspicion of murder.
Gomez was being held Friday in lieu of $1-million bail at the Burbank Jail, Koch said. He was scheduled to be arraigned on murder charges Tuesday in Burbank Municipal Court.
Police declined to elaborate on the nature of the men’s argument.
