IRVINE : 10 Schools Will Receive $250 Grants
Ten schools received $250 grants this month from the Irvine Education Foundation.
The schools were named recipients because a parent volunteer from each campus was a finalist for the foundation’s annual volunteer of the year award.
School officials will decide how to spend the money.
“Each school has different needs,” said foundation spokeswoman Elizabeth Thomas. “So the schools can use it for whatever particular need they have on the school site.”
The finalists for the award:
* Vicki Dillon, Vista Verde Elementary School.
* Sandi Russell, Westwood Basics Plus Elementary.
* Carole Girgis, El Camino Real Elementary.
* Kathy McCoy, College Park Elementary.
* Dr. William Hsiang, Brywood Elementary.
* Kathy Mazzaferro, Turtle Rock Elementary.
* Jan Hirao, Culverdale Elementary.
* Donna Ogle, Venado Elementary.
* JoAnn Glenn and Lori Richter, Sierra Vista Middle School.
* Martha Ward, Northwood Elementary.
Earlier this month, Bonita Canyon Elementary School volunteer Barbara Kelly was selected as the volunteer of the year. Her school will receive a $1,000 grant.
