Stephen Wagner of Mission Viejo shot two-over-par 74 and leads the boys’ 13-14 division after the first round of the Mission Hills Desert Junior tournament at the Mission Hills Country Club, Palmer Course.
Wagner, who will be a sophomore at Santa Margarita, leads second-place John Park of Fullerton by two strokes.
Kellee Booth of Coto de Caza is in second place in the girls’ competition. She shot one-over 73 and is a stroke behind Keri Cornelius of Scottsdale, Ariz.
In the boys’ 15-18 division, Paul Ohshima of Huntington Beach shot 73 and Ben Garner of Lake Forest and Chris Berry of Yorba Linda had 74s. Leader Michael Walton of Palm Desert shot seven-under 65.
