CBS, NBC Do Not Air Press Conference
The CBS and NBC television networks chose not to interrupt regularly scheduled programming Tuesday to show President Clinton’s news conference.
Both networks offered feeds of the news conference to their Los Angeles stations but neither carried it.
“It was a judgment call,” NBC News spokeswoman Katherine McQuay said. “Every time (Clinton) has a press conference, we don’t automatically carry it. It’s a judgment call each time. In this case, we were told there would not be any hard news announcements.”
The news conference was carried live by ABC, and by the Cable News Network and CNBC cable television networks.
