Head-on Collision Kills 1, Injures 6
A head-on collision near Newhall on Friday killed one person and injured six others, including four children, authorities said.
The accident occurred on Soledad Canyon Road near Agua Dulce Canyon Road about 4 p.m., when a car towing a mobile home drifted across the center divider and struck a southbound tractor-trailer rig, said California Highway Patrol Officer Shirley Gaines.
Helen Daley, 60, of Simi Valley, who was a passenger in the car, died after being ejected from the vehicle during the accident, Gaines said.
The 65-year-old driver of the car and four children, all under 7 years of age, were taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital where they were treated for minor injuries, Gaines said.
The truck driver, John Ritter, 39, of Canyon Country was also treated at Henry Mayo, Gaines said.
The cause of the accident is under investigation, Gaines said.
