Not All Pieces Re-Cover Equally

Not every piece of furniture is worth slipcovering. Vinyl or leather upholstered pieces, for instance, are much too slippery. Furniture with wood strips on the arm present a problem too. The strips need to be wrapped with upholstery batting first, a task you may not want to tackle.

The more curves, the more problems. The straighter and more rectangular the furniture piece, the easier to cover.

Finally, how are the springs? If it’s still difficult to insert your hand into the cavity between the deck and the side wall to hunt for loose change, that’s good. It means there’s still enough tension to hold the portion of the slipcovers tucked into this space in place. That means your slipcovers will only be as wrinkled and rumpled as you want them to be stylistically.
