Sara Wilson, who helped lead Hart High to prominence in girls’ basketball, has been selected to play for a junior national team in a six-team tournament scheduled for Taiwan later this month, she said Thursday night.
The U.S. Junior Select team will compete in a six-game, round-robin format for the Jones Cup against teams from Japan, Korea and Russia, and two from Taiwan.
The tournament is scheduled June 26 through July 4.
Entering her senior season at Oregon, Wilson, 20, has been a Pac-10 force. The 6-foot-5 center is a three-year starter for the Ducks.
She was twice named The Times’ All-Valley player of the year while leading Hart.
Wilson helped the Indians to Southern Section championships during her junior and senior seasons in 1989 and 1990.
