Saturn Reports First Profitable Month: May was the first profitable month for Saturn Corp. since it began making cars nearly three years ago, the company said. Saturn would not provide numbers, but a spokesman said the May figures show the auto maker on target to turn a profit for the 1993 calendar year. “Saturn’s goal for 1993 was to at least break even. We have met all our goals in the past and we fully intended to meet this one,” spokesman Bill Betts said at the plant in Spring Hill, Tenn. Saturn is General Motors Corp.’s small-car division founded to help it compete with imports.
