Barry Bonds said his three-run, winning home run Sunday does not make up for his past failure against the Atlanta Braves.

“You get spanked by a person often enough, eventually you’re going to have your time, too,†Bonds said after lifting the San Francisco Giants to a 4-3 victory at Atlanta.

Bonds had 10 hits in 50 at-bats with one homer and two runs batted in for Pittsburgh during the 1991 and ’92 playoffs against the Braves.

Thompson had singled in the third to extend his hitting streak to 20 games, longest in the majors this season.

Thompson started the seventh by reaching on third baseman Terry Pendleton’s error. Will Clark followed with a single, and after Matt Williams’ fly out advanced Thompson to third, Bonds hit his 14th homer.
