Countdown to Election Day : 8 Days Left in the L.A. Mayoral Campaign
THE DAY IN REVIEW
How the mayoral candidates spent their day: City Councilman Michael Woo and businessman Richard Riordan returned to their bases of support Sunday, reminding voters that getting out the vote is crucial. Woo spent the day crisscrossing South-Central Los Angeles and walking precincts in the Crenshaw district. The councilman told audiences that he was there for them on key issues. “Now, I need you to stand up for me.”
Riordan moved from churches in the San Fernando Valley to Westchester, where he told supporters “this battle’s going to be won on the ground, not in the air.” Riordan sought to shift the character issue from himself back to Woo.
COMING UP
Some of the key events on the candidates’ schedules today: * Woo will hold an 11 a.m. news conference in downtown Los Angeles with County Supervisor Gloria Molina to discuss his opponent’s arrest record.
* Riordan will attend a Memorial Day breakfast and receive an endorsement from several African-American clergy in South-Central Los Angeles. At 2:45 p.m., he will meet with Latino veterans at a ceremony in East Los Angeles.
