New York Times May Buy Boston Globe: A deal seems imminent for the parent company of the New York Times to buy the Boston Globe for a price of about $1 billion, TIME magazine said in its latest edition. An item in the column “Informed Sources” said the New York Times Co. entered serious discussions to buy the Globe in January. Representatives of both papers declined to comment.
