Tributes Honor Chavez’s Memory
Tributes and remembrances have continued since United Farm Workers union leader Cesar Chavez was buried April 29 in Delano, Calif.
Legislation has been introduced to make Chavez’s March 31 birthday a state holiday. Others have called for it to be a national holiday.
The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors and the Los Angeles City Council have given initial approval to renaming the portions of Sunset Boulevard, Macy Street and Brooklyn Avenue between Figueroa and Indiana streets as Cesar Chavez Boulevard.
