Freeway Crash Kills Santa Ana Cyclist
ANAHEIM — A Santa Ana motorcyclist died after apparently losing control and crashing into the center divider along the Santa Ana Freeway, highway officials said Wednesday.
Salvador C. Torres, 20, was traveling south on the freeway near the Euclid Street overpass shortly before midnight Tuesday, the California Highway Patrol said.
After hitting the center divider, Torres was thrown about 300 feet from his 1991 Suzuki and into a southbound lane of traffic, where he was struck by a motorist who did not stop, Officer Wes Vandiver said.
Authorities do not know who drove that car, which was described only as white.
A second motorist hit Torres’ body, the CHP said. That driver, who was not cited, stopped, authorities said.
Investigators are attempting to find the motorist who first hit Torres and are awaiting autopsy results to determine what killed him.
