TELEVISION - May 26, 1993
More Cable Fare: Encore Media Corp. announced plans to launch six new cable-television channels in July of 1994. Each will be devoted to a single theme, including Westerns, love stories, mysteries, action/adventure, true stories and shows aimed at viewers aged 8 to 16. Encore, which already has some 3.9 million subscribers for its cable movie channel, has licensed 2,500 movies and 3,500 episodes of old television programs for the new channels. Plans call for cable-television subscribers to pay $5 to $6 a month extra for the six new channels.
