Texaco to Spend Up to $7 Million on California Superfund Site: The oil company has signed a consent agreement with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. attorney for Southern California to clean up soil and ground-water contamination at a Superfund toxic waste site. The cleanup is estimated to cost $4 million to $7 million. The Pacific Coast Pipeline site near Fillmore was a Texaco petroleum refinery from the 1920s to 1950. In its operating years, liquid and semi-solid refinery wastes were disposed of in unlined pits.
