BASEBALL / DAILY REPORT : DODGERS : Hat Trick Pulls Rug on Snyder
During the ninth inning of the Dodgers’ 4-0 victory Sunday, the Colorado Rockies’ Daryl Boston hit a line drive to the wall in foul ground in right field. Cory Snyder said he felt the ball go into his glove and turned around to make the throw back in. But when he reached in his glove, the ball wasn’t there.
“I didn’t know what had happened,” Snyder said. “But when I got into the clubhouse, the guys told me that at the last minute a lady put her hat over my glove and the ball went into her hat.”
When Snyder whirled to make the throw, the woman pulled back her hat, with the ball. Tim Wallach asked Snyder facetiously: “Would you have thrown the hat?”
